What can I expect at my session?
When you arrive to my in-home studio, I will have the studio set up to start with the naked posed shots. My studio space is small and we like it to be quiet and calm during the posing session! There will be baby shusher OR a white noise machine playing to mimic the sound of the womb. Please note*** Little hands and feet play on my floor so please remove shoes at the front door when arriving. :)

My studio is located downstairs in my home. Please, please do not let your children run/roam un-attended through my home, & do not let your children play on the stairs. If your children need to get outside, or out of the studio please walk with someone ALWAYS accompanying them. I appreciate the respect for my home and for my wife who works remotely. Thank you for your understanding .
If sibling/family shots were requested, we will do them AFTER the naked shots and as soon as those are complete, the siblings/dad will be free to go grab a bite to eat, go to the park, etc. and we will move on to finish baby's portion of the session!

What do we need to wear?

Parent/Sibling images are done on a neutral background and white and/or cream tops are always the best choice when choosing outfits for these images! Jeans and a white tee shirt are super comfy after all!
How long will my session last?

Full shoots typically take 2-4+ hours. Some babies like to sleep, some do not! We just go with the flow. The baby is always the boss!
On the Day of Your Shoot:

Get the baby up early and bathe them. Have them kick naked on the bed for 20+ minutes.
You can play with the baby and let the baby be stimulated after a fresh bath.
Dress the baby in a zip up sleeper and feed the baby right before you arrive. Please do not put a onesie on baby. I will need to remove it and a onesie is hard to keep baby sleepy while removing.
Keeping baby stimulated is very important so baby will sleep during photo session.
It’s best to start on a full belly so feeding baby right before you put baby in the car seat to head my way is best; please make sure your baby has a good burp before placing baby in car seat so gas doesn’t settle on the drive here.
If you live a good distance from my in-home studio, You can feed baby when you arrive, just let me know ahead of time.

I know as a new parent things can be tough, new and overwhelming but please allow ample time to arrive to your session on time. I sometimes do multiple sessions in a day and its only fair everyone gets their full, allotted time.
Please file the baby’s nails to ensure that they don’t scratch their little faces. The best files are the cheap emery boards you can get Walmart, Target or Walgreens.

Please allow me to remove baby from car-seat.
The room will be set around 80 degrees for baby so please dress accordingly.
As I said, sessions typically take 2-4 hours+ even with a very sleepy baby. I work VERY slowly with your baby to ensure baby is always cozy and comfortable. There is a sofa in the studio for you, inside of the shooting room and all of our parents take this time to sit back, relax and enjoy having a babysitter for a few hours.
Once you get there, I will totally take over, and only need you for skin to skin during the times your baby may not want to sleep, or for nursing/feeding
Caffeine
Please DO NOT drink caffeine 72 hours prior to your session if you are breastfeeding. Babies who are affected by caffeine tend to be very jumpy, tense and alert.
What to Bring to Your Session?

Pease, NO outside props allowed. Please notify me if there is a special family heirloom or something significant to someones caree choice, etc. (example: Police officer, fireman, etc.) that you would like included. Otheriwse, I have all we will need for the session and anything purchased may not be suitable for a newborn session as most props I use are made by professionals and made specific for newborn photography. (even things from Etsy, amazon, etc. may not be suitable, so please fill out your questionairre and let me know there if there is anyting you want to see in your session!
Pacifier – Please bring one. Even if your baby does not take one from you (specifically if you are nursing, they can smell you and will want to nurse over soothing with a pacifier), they will usually take one from me. A baby’s natural born instinct is to pacify and typically not having a pacifier to help your baby soothe off the breast, will make or break a session. Don’t worry, they won’t get nipple confusion as it’s not a food source.
Diapers
Wipes
Gas drops – To ensure your baby remains comfortable throughout their session, please pack a bottle of gas drops just in case, safe for the newest of babies. I will only ask for gas drops if baby is very uncomfortable and cannot release gas thru self-release or burping.
Bottled Milk (not required) – If you have introduced a bottle to your baby, this is the preferred method of feeding during the session so we are certain how much baby is receiving (babies tend to wake a lot and root, and they really want to be pacified, not fed, so this way we know we are not overfeeding which causes extreme gas and discomfort). We will take breaks as we need to!
